IMAGINE THERE WERE NO HUMANITIES... Transdisciplinary perspectives

Imagine there were no humanities... This volume gathers thirteen attempts at addressing this provocative question from different personal and scholarly standpoints. The common aim that unites these diverse approaches is quite a bold one: that of searching for an insight into the future of the humanities, that are regarded here as a contingent academic and cultural project. Humanities appeared on the scene at a certain time and it is probable they disappear one day from our intellectual horizon. Should such a loss be deplored in advance or rather seen as an emergent opportunity?

Each of the authors introduces his or her personal experience as well as a distinct trace of his or her academic specialization. The dominating perspective is nonetheless the transdisciplinary one, justified not only by the challenge of redesigning the borders of traditional academic fields, but also by the intent of engaging into even more far-flung intellectual transgressions in search of innovative ways of reflection.
